2015 Ansan M Valley Rock Festival

Every summer in South Korea, a number of musical events are organized. Many international artists and local artists perform in these events. Ansan M Valley Rock Festival is one of them. It is a three-days event which focuses on artists with rock influences in their music. I went there few days ago, and it was absolutely amazing.

It was announced in April that the festival was going to be held from 24 to 26 July. I and my friend bought tickets for the first day because we wanted to see Noel Gallagher. I cancelled many appointments and gave up on other events, because I did not want to miss the festival. I do not regret a thing.

On 24 July, we boarded a train early in the morning. Our destination was Ansan Station. We arrived there after one and half hour. We had our breakfast in a small restaurant near the station. We then took a bus which would take us to the festival. It was very far. We crossed a long suspension bridge and arrived in an island called Daebu-do. We went to the Daebu Sea Breeze Theme Park where the festival was being held. It felt great to be there.

The place was crowded with people and full of stalls selling different kinds of things. There were three big stages where the artists were to perform.

The first gig that we saw was  Alexandros‘. It is a Japanese rock band. Their music was good, and people liked them. The next was Benjamin Booker. He is an American artist, and his genre is Blues rock. I had never heard of him, so I did not know what to expect. Overall, he did a good job.

After that, it was Ride. They are a British rock band. I liked their performance very much. The audience was going crazy. Then a Korean band performed. Their name is Kiha & The Faces. They are very popular in Korea. Koreans were out of control during their performance. The foreigners had no idea what they were singing. We were all waiting for Noel Gallagher. Deadmau5 was performing on the other stage. We could not go, because we were standing in the front row.

When Noel finally showed up, people started screaming. I could not believe I was watching his live performance. He was as always brilliantly awesome. He sang some of my favourite songs like ‘Everybody’s on the Run‘, ‘AKA…What a Life‘, ‘In the Heat of Moment‘, etc. When it came down to the very last song, the audience let out a sigh. Then Noel said, “Just one last f**king song.” and people went crazy again.

When it ended, it was already dawn. We missed the bus as well as the train. We could not go back to Seoul and had to wait until the morning. We just roamed around to pass our time. We were soaked in sweat and our shoes covered in mud. We were so tired that we did not even bother washing ourselves. We came back to Seoul by the first train. When I arrived home, I took shower and then slept the whole day. It was great.

If you love music, you ought to go to a music festival at least once in your life. It is an amazing experience. Long Live the Music!!!
